Melania Trump thanked a staff member for her White House

Former First Lady Melania Trump has asked a staff member to write thank-you notes to White House residence workers, according to a CNN report.

Presidents and women presidents traditionally write thank you cards to butlers, cooks, housekeepers, maintenance workers, and other White House staff who stay in the building through administrative shifts, but this year Melania decided to outsource the work.

Instead of writing it herself, she asked an employee who worked in the East Wing to type out about 80 thank you cards. Melania then signed everyone with her name, sources told CNN.

The New York Times reported on Tuesday that the former first lady has been “emotionally” checked out over the past few weeks because she has made few public appearances.

Yesterday, President Joe Biden’s daughter said Melania did not release her mother, now presidential wife Jill Biden, in the weeks leading up to Wednesday’s inauguration.

The Washington Post reported that she worked “quietly” with Usher Timothy Harleth, White House chief, to help coordinate the logistics surrounding the Bidens’ move to the White House.

The day before the Trumps left the White House on Wednesday morning, Melania delivered a farewell speech in which she said the past four years had been ‘unforgettable’.

“As Donald and I end our time in the White House, I think of all the people I took home in my heart and their incredible stories of love, patriotism, and determination,” she said.
