Meghan Markle, son of Archie, talks to Queen Elizabeth II before Prince Philip’s funeral: report

Meghan Markle may not have attended Prince Philip’s funeral, but according to a new report, she was not removed from the royal family.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, is currently pregnant and has been advised by doctors not to travel to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II’s husband earlier this month. However, Markle’s husband and Philip’s grandson, Prince Harry, undertook the journey.

Earlier, it was reported that Markle had sent the family a hearty handwritten note with a wreath for the funeral, but a new source indicated that she and her own son, Archie, had taken things one step further.

“Meghan spoke to Harry before his grandfather’s funeral,” the source told People magazine. “Meghan and Archie also spoke to the queen earlier this week.

Earlier, an insider told the outlet that when Markle was advised not to travel to the funeral, she reached out to the queen (95) and ‘expressed sympathy’.

“The queen understands why she cannot travel at the moment,” the source added at the time. The queen has four children of her own: Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward.

Markle also watched the funeral on television from the house she shares with Harry in Montecito, California.

A source recently told the point of sale that Markle and Harry ‘were in touch every day’ while visiting the UK for the funeral.

“She knows that the trip to England was difficult for Harry. He did not want to leave Meghan and Archie alone,” they said. “Meghan, however, insisted on him every day that she was doing well. She did not want him to worry.”

Another insider said: ‘It was a very difficult time. The duke [of Edinburgh] was the head of the family, and if there would be time to get together, it is now. ‘

Despite tensions between the couple and various members of the royal family, Harry said in February that he had had contact with his grandparents over video calls.

“Both my grandparents do Zoom,” Harry said in a conversation with James Corden. “They saw Archie running around.”
