Meghan Markle Oprah interview: Palace continued ‘falsehoods’

In a new preview for Oprah Winfrey’s upcoming tell-all interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Markle does not hold back on her feelings towards Buckingham Palace.

Asked by Oprah how she feels the palace hears her tell the truth, Markle says that “a lot has been lost” in connection with her relationship with the royal family.

“I do not know how they could have expected us to remain silent after all this time if there is an active role that the firm plays in maintaining falsehoods about us,” Markle says. “And if it’s at risk of losing things, I mean a lot has been lost.”

The preview comes on the heels of an article in The Times in which several royal assistants allegedly announce that one of her assistants has filed a charge of bullying against Markle. Buckingham Palace later announced it would investigate the allegations, and a Markle spokesman told People that Markle was “saddened” by the allegations.

“The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, especially as someone who was the target of bullying herself and committed herself to supporting those who experienced pain and trauma,” the spokesman told People. “She is determined to continue to develop compassion around the world and will continue to set an example in doing what is right and doing what is right.”

Oprah’s interview with Prince Harry and Markle, which airs on CBS on Sunday at 20:00 ET / 19:00 CT, promises to dive into the couple’s experience of royal life and dealing with the public eye and their future goals.
