Meghan Markle and Prince Harry expect a second child

Baby Archie will be a big brother soon. Meghan and Harry are expecting their second child, a spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed to CBS News on Sunday.

The couple is “delighted to be expecting their second child,” the spokesman added.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement to CBS News that Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and the whole family were “delighted” with the news of the new baby.

The photographer and friend, Misan Harriman, snapped a lovely image of the duo from a distance, apparently showing a pregnant Meghan, and shared it on social media on sunday. The black-and-white image shows the couple sitting in the grass under a tree.

“Meg, I was there at your wedding to see how this love story begins, and my friend, I’m honored to make it grow,” Harriman wrote. “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyful news!”

The news comes a few months after Meghan reveals she suffered a miscarriage in July 2020. In a piece for The New York Times, she outlined the deep sadness and loss she and Harry experience

At work, she wrote that she felt a sharp cramp and fell to the floor after changing Archie’s diaper. “I knew when I caught my firstborn, that I was losing my second,” she said.

Meghan described the ‘unbearable sadness’ of a child’s miscarriage and wrote that it was a subject that was still ‘taboo’, riddled with (unfounded) shame and a cycle of lonely mourning.

The couple got married in 2018 and had little Archie in May of the following year.

The couple announced that they were like that retire of their ‘senior’ royal roles in early 2020, a decision that shocked the British establishment. The move comes following reports that Meghan was very unhappy with life in the royal family and tired of the constant media intrusion. The couple have since moved to the United States and now living in california.

While they may no longer be working royals, the couple definitely kept busy. They have a multi-year agreement with Spotify in December to present and produce “constructive” audio projects and podcasts. They also signed an agreement with Netflix to create children’s programming, documentaries, feature films and feature films.
