Medio Ambient says no mining project in Loma Miranda

The Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, Orlando Jorge Mera, informs that it will not deliver the “Minero La Manaclita Project” in Loma Miranda, saying that the Falconbridge Dominicana company will return a request to begin the project of ambient management.

Assimismo, informs that the Ministry received a formal communication of the directives of the company in which it indicates that he made the decision to withdraw the proposed solicitation.

It should be noted that the Falcon Bridge Dominicana (Falcondo) company has applied for a referendum to extend its mining activity in Loma Miranda.

In this regard, the Minister of Orlando Jorge Mera stated that in his management “the compromise is and will continue to be the defense of the medium, the natural resources and the ecosystems of the Dominican Republic”.

Declare that the solicitation is high for the mine received in view of the Ley 64-00 on Medio Ambient and the internal regulations specified that the Ministry must receive the solicits by a physical or legal person and subsequently study the most convenient for of natural resources of the Netherlands.

Jorge Mera explained that the institution that will continue to respect the judicial decisions made about Loma Miranda and the technical studies that are prevalent in this area.
