MDH to Announce Next Steps in Minnesota’s COVID-19 Vaccination

Starting next week, the state plans to set up permanent community vaccination clinics in Minneapolis, Duluth and a yet-to-be-determined location in southern Minnesota.

In the past two weeks, more than 27,000 Minnesotans received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at nine pop-up community clinics across the state, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

Health officials say these community clinics are designed to be a complement to primary care providers to extend the distribution of vaccines to people who may not have a doctor or healthcare provider. However, the state expects most people to get their shots at clinics, hospitals and pharmacies.

So far, Minnesota has administered 531,048 COVID-19 vaccines, including 159,190 in the past week. A total of 111,715 Minnesotans completed the two-shot vaccine range.
