McDonald’s launches 3 new sandwiches as the chicken war rages

The biggest name in fast food is to bolster its efforts in the fight for fried chicken sandwiches.

McDonald’s may have served tens of thousands of locations worldwide and boasts billions, but it’s more or less dormant in one of the latest fast food restaurants – chicken sandwiches. Sick of seeing Popeyes and Chick-fil-A get all the poultry, the golden bows increase their non-citizen offerings in 2021 with three new chicken sandwiches.

According to McDonald’s, all three of the new sandwiches will feature a brand new crispy, juicy, tender fillet made with all-white chicken. There’s the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with a spicy pepper sauce and the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich topped with sliced lettuce, Roma Tomantoes and mayo.

The new chicken sandwiches fly to McDonald’s on February 24th.

“We’ve heard our customers loud and clear, and we know they want more chicken options,” McDonald’s vice president of Menu Innovation Linda VanGosen said in a press release. “We are confident that all chicken lovers – from traditionalists to spice enthusiasts – will discover a new menu favorite that they will return to time and time again.”

The new offering does not replace the McChicken, Mickey D’s distinctive chicken sandwich, on the menu. But based on photos alone, the new sandwiches look more enjoyable than the old sandwich.

McDonald’s will face tough competition. Both Chick-fil-A and Popeyes are an excellent chicken sandwich. When it comes to chains that do not specialize in chicken, Wendy’s has long been the non-citizen carrier in the category. And you do not have to go for a fast food gift for a delicious fried chicken sandwich in New Jersey – Chatham’s Namkeen opened in late 2020 and feasts delicious hot chicken sandwiches with a Pakistani twist.

We will wait to deliver judgment until we get the new McDonald’s sandwiches. But even if they do, they will always have some of the best fries in the game.
