After the Lions agreed to swap Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff at the Rams and three drafts, Stafford reached out to Goff to wish him well in Detroit.

Stafford told Mitch Albom that he thinks a lot of Goff and hopes he will succeed in Detroit.

“I shot him a text. We sent a little SMS. ‘Just tell him I know I’m going there, I have big shoes to fill,’ Stafford said. ‘It does not lose me that he was in the Super Bowl a few years ago. He is a very good player on his own. I just wanted to let him know that I appreciate him as a player and of course to contact me if anything is needed regarding Detroit, just regarding advice or accommodations. I know he feels he can reach out to me, and I know I can make contact with him in LA, too. So that was good. ”

Stafford officially becomes a Ram and Goff officially becomes a Lion when the new league year begins on March 17.
