Matthew McConaughey criticizes the Texas government, Abbott, for lifting the mask’s mandate: ‘a little dumbfounded’

Texas resident Matthew McConaughey is speaking out against Gregory Abbott’s government to lift the state’s mask mandate while the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues.

The Oscar-winning actor appears as a guest in Wednesday’s episode of ‘CBS This Morning’ to touch on his latest benefit for Texans whose lives were badly affected by last month’s deadly winter storm.

While discussing the aftermath of the storm, McConaughey questioned the governor’s decision to lift the state’s masking mandate, which took place earlier this month.

“My reaction to that is that I was a little taken aback by the decision,” McConaughey said. ‘I understand’ going back to work ‘. What I did not understand was ‘pull the mask mandate’. ‘

McConaughey emphasizes that wearing a face mask is ‘just this little discomfort’ that can help save lives. He also suggested that these may not be the face masks that so many people across the country are dealing with.

“I just want to remind you, not just Texans, but everyone out there, this is not the mask we’re afraid of. Come on. This is the word ‘mandate’. Let us not get in the way of the word ‘mandate’ from the practical use of this small tool called a mask. “It’s just a small inconvenience for more freedom today,” McConaughey said.

With the understanding that it is now the Texans’ ‘choice’, whether they wear masks or not to stop the spread of COVID-19, McConaughey begged ‘people all over the world’ to cover up.

“If you have the choice, keep masking it. It’s proven to help. We do not have much longer in this, we will go through it. Thank you,” the star said.

McConaughey’s criticism of the Abbott government’s decision is interesting, as the actor recently paid attention to the question of whether he will one day be eligible in his home. He did it again on Wednesday, noting that it was still a possibility.

“Like I said before, I’m considering it,” McConaughey told the hosts. “I would be foolish not to do that. It’s a very honorable thing to consider what the position would mean, what it would be for me, what it would mean for the people of Texas. I have to decide for myself which is my category where I can be the most useful person in life from here. ‘

Whether he is in office or not, McConnaughey is stepping up to help fellow Texans in the wake of the devastating winter storm by offering an advantage this Sunday. Artists including Kelly Clarkson, Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, and more are mentioned.

This is an event that McConaughey helped organize, but only thanks to his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, who he said came up with the idea.

“Camila came knocking on my door and said: ‘Do you see what’s happening here?’ “Remember McConaughey. “She has my back. I put my head down, gathered people to go to work.”

McConaughey said he immediately called the Texas businesses, athletes and stars calling Texas at home to see if they would help.

“We are happy with where we are, with a lot of help from a lot of people, in Texas and beyond,” he said.
