Matagorda, Liberty Provinces open COVID-19 vaccines to almost everyone

Health officials in some counties in southeast Texas are making wider access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

In Matagorda County, anyone 16 years and older can now receive doses, authorities announced Thursday. Liberty County vaccinations will be given to anyone 18 years and older.

Although people 65 and older and other subgroups on the Matagorda County site will be preferred, residents do not need an appointment for Bay City’s vaccination clinic at the Matagorda County Fairgrounds at 4511 FM 2668.

The first of two doses of the Pfizer vaccine is given until 18:00 on Thursday and 09:00 until 18:00 on Friday.

In Liberty County, residents can get doses at the Jack Hartel Building or the Dayton Clinic in the Dayton Community Center. Registration will be completed on site.

As more rounds of COVID-19 vaccine doses arrive in the Houston area, local provincial leaders and health officials are working to make the best distribution plans possible.
