Master P keep DMX in his prayers, and he can not help but think that the drug overdose of X could have been prevented – and his idea is that rappers should do a better job of taking care of their own.
We met Master P in Los Angeles on Thursday and our photo asked him about the legacy of DMX … because he remains life-supporting in a New York hospital.
Master P says he hates how the hip hop industry waits until something bad happens to one of their peers before offering love and support. He believes the industry needs to form a kind of union to help artists through difficult times, especially when drugs are involved.
TMZ broke the story … DMX had an overdose of drugs Friday night his brain robbed him of oxygen for almost 30 minutes, and now he’s in a coma and we’re told that the prognosis does not look good.
While Master P wants hip hop to unite much like the NBA Players Association, he says the best thing the industry can do to prevent the next tragedy is to educate the next generation.
Interesting conversation and concept … and Master P tells us why the prospects for artists after hip-hop are pretty bleak anyway. This is something he wants to change.
