Eight people were injured when bullets flew outside a subway station in northern Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon.
One suspect was in custody and two firearms were recovered at the scene, although police said it was unclear if the individual was the shooter.
“This is very rude,” Danielle Outlaw, Philadelphia Police Commissioner, said outside the Olney Transportation Center on Wednesday.
“We were able to arrest someone as quickly as we did, because there were officers in the area who were working on another assignment. So it’s not because of our lack of presence out here, but it’s very telling that people who are willing is to take part in this. shooting is more encouraged. ‘

The victims were between 17 and 71 years old and the injuries varied greatly, although not all were life-threatening.
Police initially said seven people were injured, but CBS Philly reported Wednesday night that an eighth victim with grass wounds walked into a local hospital.
Police found 18 shell casings at the scene.

Mayor Jim Kenney said he was “outside sick.”
“I am out of the disease. I refuse to accept this emergency as normal,” Kenney said Wednesday. “People have the right to travel between work and home, and the city, without fear of being shot and possibly killed by reckless, indiscriminate gunfire.”
