IDAHO FALLS – The Eastern Idaho District Health Board met Thursday to determine that Fremont and Lemhi provinces have met the benchmark to return to the minimum risk level of the COVID-19 Regional Reaction Plan. The measure was achieved by the active fall below the threshold of 15 / 10,000 population for the most recent period of 14 days.

Although the Health Order for Facial Coatings has been repealed, it is not relieved to make the necessary choices to slow down the spread of the virus in our communities, as the virus is still circulating and poses a risk of disease, hospitalization and death.

These choices include staying home when you are sick, washing your hands regularly, maintaining space (at least 6 feet) between people and, if you are unable to distance yourself, wearing a mask correctly and consistently. to wear.

Vaccines continue to start successfully in our health district. We are in the process of completing Priority Group 1, which are healthcare providers and residents of long-term care facilities that are not affiliated with the Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care program. If you are a healthcare provider and have not yet had the chance to be vaccinated, go to our website for information on how to schedule an appointment. Proof of employment is required before the vaccine is received.

Governor Little announced earlier this week the next priority group (2.1) for vaccination, which is critical workers and adults aged 65 and over. Frontline essential workers are not categorized in any hierarchical order as follows:

• First responders
• Education: pre-k up to 12 school staff and teachers and day care [childcare] workers
• Staff of correctional and detention facilities

Frontline essential vaccinations for workers began on January 12 and are coordinated by employers as well as individual vaccination appointments at our offices. Vaccination for older adults begins in early February.
