- As Monica realizes again, we can hear Carol Danvers’ voice nicknamed “Lt. Problem, ”a reminder of the band the two shared in their time together in Captain Ma
- The drone that Monica sends to Westview contains Captain Marvel colors, because it does, of course. She suggested the color scheme at the beginning of the hero!
- Is it possible that Monica went through Wanda’s energy field due to her latent powers? Monica’s powers in the comics allow her to turn into energy, and there are a lot of weird energy things in this week’s episode.
- Monica wakes up from ‘the blip’ in room 104 in the hospital. Room 104 has no meaning in Captain Marvel’s history, but it does Avengers # 104 is a potentially interesting connection. The issue teamed up with the Avengers and the X-Men to fight Sentinels with mutant hunting, which Wanda tied up on a machine that would cause sunshine that would sterilize humans that could cause Sentinels to develop the genetic variation that causes mutation. Strange.
MARIA RAMBEAU
- Maria Rambeau van Captain Marvel is confirmed to have died of cancer in the meantime Infinity War and Endgame. Apparently she worked at a high level at SWORD and possibly even founded the organization, probably inspired by the madness she saw in the nineties, as depicted in Captain Marvel.
- Throughout her time in SWORD, Maria retained the nickname “Photon”, one of the many codenames that Monica would use as a superhero in the comics.
SWORD
- Monica arriving at SWORD HQ is a bitter compilation with news reports about ‘celebrations continuing’ as people are reunited with their loved ones as Maria could never see her daughter return.
- SWORD director Tyler Hayward appears to be a brand new MCU creation, but he does share a name with a ‘Brian Hayward’ who was a villain on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.
- Anyone else think the blue, black and white SWORD color scheme might bother a Fantastic Four connection? Especially since Hayward and Monica are having a conversation about an ‘astronaut training program’ that is apparently not going too well.
- The number on Monica’s van is S-8512. No, we also found no meaning for this. She has special government / SWORD plates that read ZB718. Also draw a space there.
- The name of the SWORD agent with Darcy when she first discovered the broadcast is Agent Monti. Also, do not ring any Marvel bells.
Westview
- As we suspected, Westview is indeed in northern New Jersey, probably Bergen County. If we get it right, the “Route 2” Monica continues to get to Westview (from exit 32), and it may be Route 17 running through both NJ and New York.
- Westview’s population is 3,892. Does anyone have anything on the number? March 8, 1992? August 3, 1992?
DAT U, MEPHISTO?
The Eastview sheriff’s vehicle number is 1966. This does not correspond to the first years of appearance for Wanda, Vision, Jimmy or Monica. BUT … hang on here with us for a moment …
If you look closely at the numbers, the “9” and “6” do not seem to be different numbers. And what is a ‘9’ but an inverted ‘6’ which means it’s a low key, and the repetitive ‘666’ motif continues to appear in this show.
The sheriff’s deputies come from the town of “Eastview”. Mephisto is also known as Lucifer … as in Lucifer Morningstar, and The Satanic Bible says that Lucifer as one of the princes of hell is the “east”.
JIMMY WOO
Welcome back to the MCU, Jimmy Woo! Jimmy is one of the older characters in the entire MCU, believe it or not, and preceded the actual Marvel Comics universe by a few years, first appearing in 1956. His MCU version made his first and only appearance (so far) in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
- Agent Woo pulling out his card with close-up magic was a fantastic callback to the running gag of Ant-Man and the Wasp.
CMBR
The “Wandavision” broadcast hidden in the cosmic microwave background radiation feels like an indication of how serious Wanda’s powers are. The CMBR is, as Jimmy says in the episode, the remaining radiation from the early moments after the big bang. It is not a formative energy source, but the waste product of a formative energy source. Hiding a signal in it can be an indication that some fundamental principles of reality are being changed.
