Spider-Man may think his fight with Kindred is over, but his allies know better and they have officially given themselves a new team name.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Amazing Spider-Man # 57 by Nick Spencer, Mark Bagley, John Dell, Andrew Hennesy, Andy Owens, Rachelle Rosenberg, Edgar Delgado and VC’s Joe Caramagna, currently on sale.
Earlier in the story “Last Remains” in Amazing Spider-Man, the heroes who serve as part of the spider totem, came up with a name on the spot and called themselves the Order of the Web. Now that the battle with Kindred is temporarily over, they know they have bigger fights to fight.
As a result, the heroes chose to stay connected and formed an official team where they try to keep an eye on Spider-Man and face the problems this war with Kindred is causing. With the official team, however, they also shortened their name. Spider-Gwen said that the original name Madame Web gave them was a bit long, and she said that they would now be known as The Order.

The new team includes Miles Morales’ Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Madame Web, Silk, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Girl. They were not happy with Peter Parker when he came out after the fight with Kindred and refused to explain what happened. They almost died to help him, and everything went through a lot. She also pointed out that Peter made a choice that he thought was for them, but she believes he hid something. Mary Jane acted to stop the debate, and Madame Web agreed, but told Peter that the time would come to speak.
After Peter and Mary Jane left, the Order began to discuss what their next step would be. While Spider-Man was busy with Norman Osborn and wiping his hands off his part in the whole situation, the Order said he still needed their help, even though he did not want to help them. Spider-Woman said it does not matter because she knows something big is coming, and they will not give Spider-Man a choice when the time comes. She admitted that Kindred is not finished yet, all the sins that Sin-Eater has released are running wild and something big is coming. Spider-Gwen said they needed someone to tell them what to do, and that’s when Madame Web said they would stay together. This excited Spider-Man, who wanted to make by-laws and rent office space, even though he knows what a team member is all about. He was in the Avengers and is currently a member of the Champions. They decide it can wait. For now, they are known as the Order, and it was time for them to get to work.
While the Order of the Web was a bit long and a mouthful for Spider-Gwen, the new name also does not have the best connotations. During the “Civil War,” Tony Stark began the initiative to place superhero teams across the United States, all of which work for the U.S. government. The California team was initially, and ironically, called the Champions, but was then renamed the Order. It was an interesting group because each member had a Greek God’s power, but if a government was running the team, they would be deprived of their powers if one of the members violated the rules, and someone else would replace it . The team eventually phased out after the initiative, and soon the real champions were back in action.
Another team, known as the Order, consists of the founding members of the Defenders – Doctor Strange, Namor, Hulk and Silver Surfer. It took place in The order (2002) by Kurt Busiek, Matt Haley, Dan Panosian, Gregory Wright & Randy Gentile. It put some of the most powerful heroes on Earth in a position where they imposed their will on the people of the earth with a new world order, under a curse that Yandroth placed on them. However, it ended when the rest of the Defenders stopped them and broke the curse and ended the threat once and for all.
