Marvel’s Avengers Increase XP Grind and Get Rid of Random Cosmetic Drops

Building your heroes in Marvel’s Avengers will take longer after Crystal Dynamics announced that it’s going to change the way XP progress works. On March 18, the latest DLC character Hawkeye will appear alongside the next generation versions of Marvel’s Avengers. But Crystal Dynamics is also changing some important progression mechanics, as well as how random cosmetic drops will work.In a blog by a new developer, the Marvel’s Avengers team announced that the current XP progression curve “is not a curve at all.” While most RPGs increase the amount of XP needed to upgrade as players get stronger, Marvel’s Avengers XP system is linear and static.

“This has led to the pace of issues, such as that skill points are currently being rewarded too quickly, which can be confusing and overwhelming for newer players,” Crystal Dynamics says in the blog.

To fix this, Marvel’s Avengers will start increasing the amount of XP needed to upgrade from around level 25. The required XP will increase the closer players get to level 50, which is the current maximum level. Crystal Dynamics says players who want to quickly maximize their characters can try to hone before March 18, when the update starts live.

When it comes to cosmetics, Marvel’s Avengers completely gets rid of random cosmetics. As of today, random cosmetic drops will be temporarily removed and will reappear later in the cosmetic seller and can be purchased through Units.

On the subreddit r / PlayAvengers, players are somewhat divided over the XP rework. Some argue that characters do not even feel good about playing up to level 50, and that adding more grind to progression is not a solution. Others say that this change will only affect new players, and that it will have more familiarity with the game’s systems if their characters are relieved by a longer progression.
