Marvel Video tackles the origins of Baron Zemo’s comic book

In a video shared by Marvel Entertainment, the history of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s Baron Zemo is discussed.

A new video shared by Marvel offers an crash course in the comic book history of Baron Zemo, one of the main actors in Marvel Studios’ ongoing Disney + original series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The video was hosted by Langston Belton and uploaded to the official YouTube channel of Marvel Entertainment. It begins by explaining the history of the name Baron Zemo, which is “a title of German nobility” passed down “by 13 generations of no-goodniks.

The original Baron Zemo from Marvel Comics – dr. Heinrich Zemo – was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in 1964. Avengers # 6 after a partial appearance in issue # 4. The 12th member of the Baron Zemo line, Heinrich, was the Nazis’ top scientist during World War II and works with HYDRA’s Baron Wolfgang von Strucker.

Created by Roy Thomas, Tony Isabella and Sal Buscema, Heinrich’s son – Helmut Zemo – first appeared in 1973 as the villain Phoenix. Captain America # 168, taking revenge on Cap for killing his father. Helmut made his first full appearance as the new Baron Zemo in 1982 Captain America # 276 after a cameo was made in issue # 275. He later acquired the mantle of Citizen V in 1997. Incredible Hulk # 449 to become the leader of the Thunderbolts.

Played by Daniel Brühl, a heavily modified version of Helmut Zemo was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016. Captain America: Civil War. In the MCU, Zemo is a former special operations soldier from Sokovia, whose family apparently perished during the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, which causes him to take revenge against the Avengers. Zemo successfully breaks the superhero team by drafting Steve Rogers’ best friend Bucky Barnes for the United Nations bombing. Zemo also reveals that Bucky, as the brainwashed Winter Soldier, killed Tony Stark’s parents.

Brühl repeats his role as Baron Helmut Zemo in The falcon and the winter soldier, and even put on the character’s distinctive mask from the comics. Tune in to the events of Avengers: Endgame, follows Disney + series Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes on a global adventure as they wrestle with Captain America’s legacy. The falcon and the winter soldier premiered on March 19 and is currently halfway through the six episodes.
