Once upon a time, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) was planning to acquire his own film franchise or, at the very least, his own solo film. Now that Disney + has come into its own, however, the film has now been transformed into a lengthy television series with a substantial film budget. The Hawkeye movie report comes from THR, indicating that Marvel Studios originally set up the film long before Disney + was announced.
The latest news confirms a long-standing report that Kevin Feige and his team have explored ways to put more focus on others. Avengers characters who still had to get their own franchise.
The Hawkeye Disney + program began production shortly after Thanksgiving and continues on sound stages in and around Atlanta. At the height of the holiday season, Renner himself teased the Christmas season of the series.
“Thank you NYC for some Christmas memories,” the Hawkeye star shared on his Instagram page in December.
Despite being relocated from theaters to Disney +, Marvel Studios treats its television programs much like the stage series.
“We treat our shows like we’re doing functions,” Hawkeye producer Trinh Tran earlier told ComicBook.com about the production value behind Disney + shows. “I mean, the feel and the quality of those TV shows are going to be like the Marvel movies you saw. That’s always been the case. [Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige]Our mindset: let’s make sure that when people go to watch these episodes, it feels like it’s just one long movie, except rather than two-and-a-half hours, it’s going to be a lot longer. And the idea behind certain characters to get their shows is because we will have a lot more time to develop these characters rather than make them shorter. ‘
Hawkeye will be released later this year.
