Martha Stewart faces setback because she gets COVID vaccine

“I am in the approved age group for this group of vaccines and I have been waiting in line with others.”

Martha Stewart received the COVID vaccine yesterday at the holistic care center she opened in New York two years ago. She decided to share the news in a post on Instagram, along with a video in which she gets the chance.

Now it is noteworthy that Martha is 79 years old, and people in New York over the age of 65 are eligible to receive the vaccine. So Martha was completely within her rights to get the chance … but many commenters on Instagram were angry about it nonetheless.

“I think the rich come first,” one commenter wrote. ‘I’ve loved and followed you for over thirty years, but it’s not [right]. “

“How the hell is Martha considered a front line ???” wonders another commentator.

Several commentators noted that Martha could receive the vaccine before vulnerable members of their families:

And some health workers in the comments said they could not get the vaccine yet:

People basically just had a lot of questions about how Martha could get the vaccine so quickly, citing her privilege as a likely factor. (I mean, she was vaccinated at a medical center literally named after her, so there is almost certainly truth to the argument.)

Now, Martha has now addressed this criticism in the caption of her post.

“I am so proud and grateful for the doctors, nurses and medical staff who are blown away by the red tape and confusion over the distribution of these very important vaccines,” Martha wrote. “I’m excited to have received my dose and looking forward to the booster.”

‘The doctors told me that 10,000 applications were received by Mount Sinai just after the state released this group of vaccines. Here is the advancement of science and a heartfelt thank you to those who are working on the vaccines. We all hope that the pandemic will end. “

And Martha ended her message by responding to those implying that she “jumped the line” by receiving her shot.

“To allay your concerns that I jumped, you should know that I am in the approved age group for this group of vaccines and that I have been waiting in line with others.”
