Markle, Harry marriage certificate contradicts secret marriage claim: report

The marriage certificate of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle contradicts the Duchess of Sussex’s claim that they secretly tied the knot in their backyard days before their abundant public vows, according to a report.

During her TV interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle said that she and Harry were actually hooked three days before their highly publicized ceremony in 2018.

But the document obtained by The Sun from the General Registrar confirms that the marriage took place on 19 May that year in Windsor Castle.

The news office also reported that the official who drafted the license for the couple’s wedding had rejected Markle’s claim.

‘I’m sorry, but Meghan is obviously confused and clearly misinformed. “They did not get married in front of the Archbishop of Canterbury three days earlier,” Stephen Borton, former chief clerk at the faculty office, told The Sun.

“What I suspect they did was exchange some simple vows that they might have written themselves and that were fashionable, and said it was in front of the archbishop – or, and more likely, a simple exercise. , “Borton added.

During the session with Oprah, Markle said: ‘You know, we were married three days before our wedding. No one knows. The vows we made in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the Archbishop of Canterbury. ”

She said she and Harry the archbishop, the Rev. Justin Welby, called and asked him to marry them privately at their home in Nottingham Cottage.

“Only the three of us,” the prince climbed in.

Borton pours cold water on their claim.

‘They would not be able to get married on the grounds of Nottingham Cottage because it is not an authorized place and there were not enough witnesses. You can not just be married to three people. “This is not a valid ceremony,” he told The Sun.

“A certificate she may have of her vows on the wall is not an official marriage certificate,” he continued. “The wedding itself took place in the St. George’s Chapel took place under the conditions set out in the Royal Marriages Act of 1772, which was recently amended.

“To have a marriage, a special license was drawn up and the wording of her majesty, the queen, authorizing the wedding and the official venue, was recorded.”

According to the report, the witnesses on the document are recorded as Prince Charles and Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

The Sun said he was paying £ 42 (about $ 58) for the certificate, which Harry called ‘single’, his career as ‘Prince of the UK’ and Markle’s ‘divorced’ and ‘actor’.

A spokesman for the archbishop said he would not comment on The Sun on personal or pastoral matters.
