The man in charge of the largest social network in the world has just joined the latest social network in the world.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has created a username – “Zuck23” – and logged in to the new voice-based chat. invitation only social app Clubhouse on Thursday night for an interview.
Like Tesla CEO Elon Musk before him, Zuckerberg jumped on Clubhouse to take part in ‘The Good Time Show’, a talk show based on Clubhouse.
Zuckerberg was on the program to discuss futuristic technology from Facebook’s Reality Labs group, which specializes in augmented reality, virtual reality and other platforms that are believed to be the future of human-computer interaction.
To that end, Zuckerberg discussed the promise of AR / VR, as it applies to remote work. In the next 5 to 10 years, according to Zuckerberg, half of Facebook’s staff could work remotely on a permanent basis – regardless of global pandemics.
“We have to transport ourselves, not transport,” Zuckerberg said. according to a transcript by venture capitalist John Constine.
Perhaps more notable than what Zuckerberg said at Clubhouse was his presence in the vibrant new social networking app – Facebook is notorious for repeating the key features of its competitors through Facebook and Facebook’s affiliates. Instagram Stories, for example, is largely a re-creation of a similar feature on Snapchat.
Aside from a positive buzz, Clubhouse has been repeatedly criticized for the moderation issues that overwhelmingly affect blacks and coloreds, reports Grit Daily. “There are no screenshots on the clubhouse,” the report said. There is no way to pull up old clubhouse posts years later like a user can do on Twitter. There is no way to record conversations, which means there is no way to prove that someone said anything controversial. There is no path to accountability. ‘
The most important function of Clubhouse is voice-based communication: users mainly join in group chat conversations, which other social networks do not offer. The app is currently for invitations only, but it is expected to be open to everyone in the near future.
