Mark Gurman: No March 16 Apple Event or AirTags Launch

Over the past few weeks, the March 16 date has been thrown quite a bit in connection with a potential Spring Apple event. Many of us have been very skeptical about the prospects of a March event, due to the sources and the rumored product mix for such an event. Well, Bloomberg Reporter and Apple leaker extraordinary Mark Gurman says an event on March 16 does not happen.

We have been wondering for some time now whether Apple will hold a March meeting due to the large number of products that will allegedly be released in the first half of 2021. Rumors are circulating about new iPad pros, new AirPods and new products like AirTags. YouTube personality Jon Prosser claimed last year that Apple would hold a March event and do so specifically on the 16th. Earlier this week, the date began is thrown around again picked up on Twitter and through various channels and publications.

If you can trust someone to tell you what Apple is working on, it’s Mark Gurman. Mark said tonight that Apple has no plans for a March 16 event and that they also have no plans to release AirTags that day. He does not rule out the launch of March products and we still expect it to be a few. Apple tends to release a few minor product updates every March.

It is always possible that there is a March event in the works, just not on that particular date. Apple’s last meeting in March was in 2019 for the launch of Apple TV +, but since 2018, they still haven’t held a product-oriented one when they unveiled the first low-end iPad that partnered with Apple Pencil in Chicago.

Do not lose hope for AirTags or any other products that are reportedly going to be launched next month. Just do not mark your calendar for an event on March 16th.
