Marjorie Taylor Greene and Mitt Romney Spar on Trump Call

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Senator Mitt Romney of Utah tweeted on Saturday after Greene said former President Donald Trump had expressed his support for her during a phone call.

GOP leaders have received increasing calls to punish Greene, who represents Georgia’s 14th Congress District, for her support of conspiracy theories. On Saturday, Greene tweeted that she had a “BIG call” with Trump, saying the former president expressed his support amid Democratic calls for her eviction. “The bloodthirsty media and the socialists hate America. Democrats are attacking me now just like they always attack President Trump,” she added.

Romney criticized Greene and Trump’s alleged phone call and tweeted: “Lies of a feather flow together: the nonsense of Marjorie Taylor Greene and the ‘big lie’ of a stolen election.”

Greene fired back on Saturday afternoon, accusing Romney of ignoring the concerns of the American public. “Republican Senator Mitt Romney obviously does not care about the people’s biggest concern. Please cultivate a pair or a backbone,” she tweeted in response.

Greene has come under increasing dual criticism over the past few weeks, after it was revealed in social media reports that she liked and worked on conspiracy theories and calls for violence against Democrats.

Democratic Congressman Jim McGovern on Friday called House minority leader Kevin McCarthy a “coward” for failing to strip Greene of her committee duties, following reports of her social activities.

“He’s afraid of tackling people like Marjorie Taylor Greene and the most extreme elements of his party,” McGovern told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “The people who buy these crazy conspiracy theories, these QAnon theories, and I think he thinks that’s exactly where the energy and excitement in the Republican Party is right now. And it’s really sad because Lincoln’s party became the party. of conspiracy theories. ‘

Greene had earlier indicated support for the Satanic cannibalistic pedophile conspiracy theory known as QAnon, but later distanced herself from it while presenting it to Congress.

But recently, social media activities and videos have resurfaced, showing that Greene was also positively engaging in other conspiracy theories before taking office, including the idea that Parkland and other shooting incidents were offered to advance U.S. gun restrictions.

Democratic Congressman Jimmy Gomez announced on Wednesday that he will soon pass a resolution expelling Greene from Congress for her previous involvement in online activities “calling for political violence against the Speaker of the House, members of Congress and Former President Barack Obama. ‘
