Actress and burlesque artist Dita Von Teese has responded to allegations of abuse against her ex-husband, Marilyn Manson, by actress Evan Rachel Wood and several others.
On Wednesday, Von Teese posted a statement on Instagram supporting the musician’s accused as he ‘processed the news’. Von Teese and Manson were married for seven years in December 2005.
“Please know that the details made public do not match my personal experience during our 7 years as a couple,” Von Teese wrote. ‘If they did, I would not have married him … I left 12 months later due to infidelity and drug abuse.
“Abuse of any kind has no place in any relationship,” she added. “I urge those among you who have been abused to take steps to heal and give the power to fully realize yourself.”
Wood identified Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, on Monday as her alleged abuser in an attempt to “expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that enabled him to destroy even more lives.” “
When she was 19 and he was 37, Wood and Manson started dating in 2007. They were engaged briefly in 2010 before parting ways in August of that year.
“He started caring for me as a teenager and abused me horribly for years,” the Westworld star claimed on social media on Monday. ‘I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I already live in fear of retaliation, slander or extortion. … I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent. ”
Others who accused Manson of misconduct this week include Sarah McNeilly, Ashley Lindsay Morgan, Ashley Walters, Charlyne Yi, Brittany Leigh and Scarlett Kapella, as well as two more whose display is on Instagram Torii and Gabriella.
Manson denied the allegations earlier this week as “horrific distortions of reality”. In the wake of the controversy, the actor and singer was turned down by his record company and talent agency (CAA), as well as removed from several TV series.
On Wednesday night, the LAPD responded to a call in Manson’s residence. North Hollywood police conducted a wellness check at the 3400 block of Troy Drive in Studio City around 6 p.m., but departed after no evidence of problems or a crime was found, the LAPD confirmed to The Times on Thursday morning .
In the video of the incident that TMZ obtained on Wednesday, officers can be seen arriving and ringing the doorbell at the property. TMZ reported that police were able to contact a Manson representative, who confirmed he was OK but did not want to leave his home. The police apparently left shortly afterwards.
In an interview with Spin magazine in 2009, which was widely shared after Wood emerged, Manson said he told Wood it was her fault that he physically harmed himself after their breakup, and that she song “I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies” ‘Fantasized about him’ every day to hit her skull with a sledgehammer. ‘
In a 2020 statement to music blog Metal Hammer, Manson’s team addressed the interview, claiming that ‘the comment in Spin where Manson had a fantasy of using a sledgehammer on Evan and he cut it 158 times was of course a theater-rockstar interview set a new record, and not a factual report. ”
Wood shared an anonymous quote on her Instagram page on Wednesday:
“Do not ask why victims wait so long to speak,” reads the quote. “Ask what systems were there to keep it quiet.”
