Maricopa County opens COVID-19 vaccine for adults 65+

PHOENIX – Adults 65 years and older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Maricopa County from Monday, February 15th.

Provincial health officials announced Thursday that they are expanding the qualification, as nearly 50% of people aged 75 and older have now received at least one vaccine dose.

On Monday, all vaccines in Maricopa County began administering doses to 65-year-olds and older.

The decision is in line with the federal vaccination program for vaccinations starting later this week, which will bring the vaccine to 182 pharmacies in Maricopa County.

“The data show that we are deciding to give older adults a little extra time to access the vaccine, are successful and that the timing is now right to invite our residents aged 65 and over to act and vaccinate, “said Marcy Flanagan, director of Maricopa County. Department of Public Health.

The Department of Public Health in Maricopa County estimates that in the age group 65-74 there are nearly 400,000 adults who are eligible for the vaccine in Maricopa County.

According to the latest data available from health officials in Maricopa County, nearly 430,000, or 12%, of the residents have been vaccinated with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

More than 120,000 Maricopa County residents, about one in four people who received one dose in lease, were completely vaccinated with two doses.

MCDPH makes vaccine appointments when and where it is suitable for humans.

Efforts include: setting up five local transit sites across the province, and then a sixth and more centrally located site near public transport, with a transit option for those who do not have their own vehicles.
