Man suspected of threatening to blow up government buildings arrested in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A man suspected of threatening to blow up government buildings was arrested in Colorado Springs on Thursday.

Police shared details of the case against Shawn Wallace in an online blotter. According to police, Wallace was on his way to Gold Hill Police Station, west of I-25 and just south of Highway 24, at 3 p.m., and Wallace had a warrant for obscene communications from Virginia and police also say he threatened has to detonate explosives in his truck.

Members of Metro VNI and the FBI JTTF Colorado Springs have notified Colorado Springs police that the suspect is on his way to the Gold Hill substation. Gold Hill Patrol has set up surveillance in the area. The units noticed that the suspect was driving in the direction of the substation and made a ‘high risk stop’. Wallace was then arrested just off the street leading to the parking lot of the substation.

Authorities searched the suspect vehicle and no explosives were found.

Shawn Wallace was booked into El Paso County Jail. It is not clear if he will file any additional charges other than the case for which he was sought from Virginia.
