MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. Miami-Dade police are investigating a double shooting that took place on Tuesday morning.
The shooting was reported in the vicinity of North West 17th Avenue and 74th Street.
Miami-Dade police detective Alvaro Zabaleta said an altercation broke out between the victims and another person before they were shot.
He said the man was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The woman was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
Detectives were seen focusing on two vehicles – a red BMW X3 with its front door on the passenger side and a white Hyundai.
“We need to wake up and smell the coffee and stop living the way we live,” Local 10 News reporter Annaliese Garcia said at the scene.
Zabaleta confirmed that a man was detained for questioning, but it is unclear if he was really involved in the shooting.
