According to the Sheriff’s Office, a man was shot dead Saturday afternoon after being abducted from his girlfriend’s apartment in northwest Harris County.
Deputies said the man was attacked in the Copperfield area, placed in his vehicle and then found dead in his trunk at an apartment complex on Smiling Wood Lane. It is unclear exactly where the man died, as deputies are judging at least two crime scenes.
Deputies arrived at the apartment around 9 a.m. Saturday after a woman said her home had been broken into. They discovered that the woman’s boyfriend had been attacked by three unknown men at the home.
The victim and the men struggled and then he was taken out of the house and placed in his vehicle. Then they left the scene, the delegates said.
Deputies later located the vehicle at Smiling Wood Lane. When delegates opened the trunk, they found a male who hit the description of the man at the house raid. The victim’s car had a theft detection device.
The family has yet to verify the body, investigators said.
Deputies treat this incident as a murder. They believe that the suspects were waiting for the victim in the girlfriend’s house, and that the victim was lured to enter the house.
While the friend called the police, investigators are unclear if she was involved.
Delegates said there was an “obvious trauma” to the body and that the victim had been shot an unknown number of times. It is also unclear if anything was taken from the house.
There is currently no suspicious information available.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-521-4600.
