He not only took the day – he took everyone of them.
A hospital worker in Italy is accused of stabbing more than $ 648,000 in salary for more than 15 years, despite never showing up for work, authorities said.
The Italian news agency Ansa, called the ‘king of the absentees’, is now confronted as ‘king of the absentees’, Salvatore Scumace (66).
Prosecutors say Scumace stopped showing up for his actions as a security guard at Puglia Ciaccio Hospital in Catanzaro after being put in the books in 2005.
The chronic turnout allegedly threatened the hospital director to prevent her from reporting his absence, the Guardian reported.
After her retirement, Scumace continued to collect his salaries, as the absence of the new director as well as the human resources department went unnoticed, the report said.
Six managers or staff members at the hospital are also being investigated because they suspect they played a role in making Scumace work.
