A man has been arrested in connection with the US Capitol riots after boasting at a local news office that he stole wine stolen from a lawmakers’ liquor cabinet during the chaos.

According to CBS Boston, Jason Riddle, 32, of Keene, New Hampshire, was arrested Monday by FBI special agents in Boston.

According to a complaint, Riddle was charged Friday with unlawful entry into a restricted building, theft of government property and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

As of Monday, 237 people had been charged in the uprising.

According to the complaint, the FBI interviewed Riddle on January 22 after receiving tips that he had given an interview to NBC10 on January 9 in which he admitted to taking part in the riot.

Riddle told the FBI that he “walked into an office and found an open bottle of wine” and “poured him a glass”, the complaint reads.

“Riddle then admitted that he drank the wine and then left the office after being told by a police officer to do so,” he said.

The FBI did not say in which office of the legislature the wine consists, but said it also admits that he stole a copy of the Senate procedure from the office.

According to the FBI, Riddle sold the book to someone outside the Capitol for $ 40 and also took a Fox News footballer from the same office.

In his NBC10 interview, Riddle said he entered the Capitol because he was excited at the moment and wanted to experience the scene.

“I just had to see it,” he said. “They broke computers and printers and broke things and threw papers and lamps around.”

Riddle told NBC10 that he poured himself a glass of wine, “chopped it and got away with it”. Riddle also shared a photo with the news network of himself holding the stolen wine bottle, the FBI said.

In his FBI interview, Riddle allegedly denounced those who destroyed public property during the uprising.

“The psychopaths who break around and hurt people can rot in hell,” he said according to the complaint.
