Actor David Boreanaz, best known for Angel on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, is the latest cast to support former costar Charisma Carpenter, who claims to have misbehaved with series producer Joss Whedon.
Carpenter, known for her breakout role as Buffy’s high school nemesis Cordelia Chase, accused Whedon of creating a hostile environment on the set, which she said includes retaliatory behavior and harassment during her pregnancy.
“Joss Whedon abused his power on several occasions while collaborating on the set of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and ‘Angel’,” Carpenter wrote last Wednesday in a Twitter thread. ‘The disturbing incidents cause a chronic physical condition that I still suffer from. It is with a beating, heavy heart that I say that I have faced in isolation and sometimes destructively. ‘
On Sunday, Boreanaz wrote an answer on Carpenter’s tweet: “I am here for you to listen and support you. Proud of your strength. ”
“I know you’re there for me, David,” carpenter answer. “I appreciate everything you have done to show the support in private as well.”
Carpenter initially shared her story in solidarity with actor Ray Fisher, who previously accused Whedon of ‘gross, abusive’ behavior on the set of the 2017 superhero film ‘Justice League’ in which he portrayed the DC Extended Universe character Cyborg.
Carpenter also said she participated in WarnerMedia’s internal investigation into Whedon, as well as “Justice League” producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, which have since been completed.
Johns was previously DC Entertainment’s president and chief creative officer, while Berg was previously Warner Bros. ‘co-president of production. Both ended these roles when the company reevaluated its approach to DC movies following the release of ‘Justice League’.
Warner Bros., which competed in the investigation in December, declined to comment as a previous statement.
“The investigation was conducted by an outside law firm and led by a former federal judge,” the studio said. An interview was conducted with more than 80 people. We have full confidence in its thoroughness and integrity, and corrective action has been taken. ”
A Whedon representative declined to comment.
Warner Bros. does not own any of Whedon’s TV series presented in the late 1990s and early 2000s. “Buffy” and “Angel” were owned and distributed by 20th Century Fox Television, now Disney.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, who starred in ‘Buffy’, commented on the allegations on her Instagram page, writing: ‘Although I’m proud to have my name linked to Buffy Summers, I do not want to be associated with forever who calls Joss Whedon. ”
Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Dawn Summers in the series, followed her own statement against Whedon: ‘There was a rule. Saying. He is not allowed to be alone in a room with Michelle again, “she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. Former Buccaneer Amber Benson has leftand said, “Buffy was a toxic environment and it’s starting up.”
On Saturday, Adam Busch, Tom Lenk and Danny Strong, who all played in season six of “Buffy” villains, joined the ranks of fans on Twitter. “I support Charisma, Sarah, Amber & Michelle,” Busch wrote. “I admire their courage and leadership. The truth is powerful and ruling. ”
