Negus George, of Seventh Street, Gooding Trace in Malabar, is formally charged with the murder of 23-year-old Andrea Bharatt.
Police laid the charge against the 24-year-old this morning.

George is expected to appear before a magistrate in Arima in the coming hours.
Senior homicide investigators told Guardian Media that George was likely to be at the Arima police station for the virtual trial.
Meanwhile, George’s girlfriend, a 37-year-old from Malabar, is expected to be formally charged today with receiving stolen property.

Sources say there is an administrative requirement that must be completed before she can be formally charged.
Andrea Bharatt was abducted on January 29 in King Street, Arima, and her body was found six days later in an abyss in the heights of Aripo.
