Major League Baseball announced this afternoon that the free agent is relieved Sam Dyson has accepted a suspension that covers the entire 2021 season under the league’s domestic violence policy.
The soon-to-be 33-year-old Dyson has not pitched since 2019, which he split between San Francisco and Minnesota. Dyson underwent shoulder surgery in September, and two months later the league began investigating him after ex-girlfriend Alexis Blackburn accused him of abuse. Details of the allegations became known last October.
Dyson has been an effective reliever with a handful of teams since starting his career in 2012. However, his actions outside the field may again prevent him from playing in the field.
