Major Elder Scrolls Online DLC takes players to oblivion in June

Developer ZeniMax Online Studios and publisher Bethesda Softworks went to Twitch to unveil The Elder Scrolls Online’s year-long adventure, a DLC series featuring the Gates of Oblivion. These extensions offer new content that players can experience on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadiums and Xbox One.

Four pieces of DLC will be sprinkled during the year. The first, Flames of Ambition, attacks March 8 for PC and Stages, and March 16 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Meanwhile, the headline DLC appears in the Blackwood chapter just two months later: June 1 for PC and Stages, and June 8 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The other two extensions, one unannounced well and one unannounced story zone, begin V3 and V4, respectively. Exact release dates have not been stamped.

The Flames of Ambition kicks off the Gates of Oblivion adventure. The expansion introduces two new PvE dungeons – Black Drake Villa and The Cauldron – which is the task of players attacking a shrine of the Deadric Prince Mehrunes Dagon to find a tome before it is destroyed. A few familiar faces, including newcomer Eveli Sharp-Arrow and recurring character Dremora Lyranth, will be joining players, and may unlock new equipment and collectibles.

The Blackwood chapter is the focus of the Gates of Oblivion adventure and it comes with a number of additions, such as a new zone, quests, game mechanics, and improved quality of life. The expansion is over 30 hours and offers a brand new storyline chapter that players can experience on their own or with an NPC ally through the new Companions system.

With Companions, players can recruit, travel and fight with an NPC that has their own personalities. These allies can join players in most adventures, beware and use custom equipment and skills to help as they drive through Tamriel.

As for the story, the Blackwood chapter takes players to several well-known places, including the Imperial City of Leyawiin first seen in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The main storyline gives players the task of discovering a conspiracy theory orchestrated by the Daedric Prince. There is also a lot of new equipment to collect, contributions to tackle and world events to take part in.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood is now available for pre-order and comes with unlockings, such as an outfit, pet, experience scrolls, treasure maps and one Iron Atronach crate filled with other items in the game. The Blackwood chapter is found in some editions that contain only the expansion itself or the expansion, the base game, and previously released chapters. Conversely, players who own all the content of The Elder Scrolls Online can pick up the Blackwood Upgrade edition to participate in Gates of Oblivion.
