Maine CDC reports another 30 Mainers killed by COVID-19

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) – Another 30 Mainers have died from coronavirus.

The 30 additional deaths reported Saturday include one resident of Androscoggin County, four residents of Aroostook County, five residents of Cumberland County, two residents of Hancock County, one resident of Kennebec County, four residents of Oxford County, eight residents of Penobscot County, and five residents of York County.

15 of the people who died were women, while 15 were men.

23 of the additional deaths reported were confirmed by reviewing important records.

The deaths have all occurred since December 24, 2020.

507 people have now died from COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

The Maine CDC reports 444 new cases of the virus.

Total cases top 33,000.

There are 27,249 confirmed cases.

The director of Maine CDC, dr. Nirav Shah, said on Friday that 20% of all hospitalizations since the start of the pandemic had taken place in the past month.

York County saw nearly 100 new cases overnight with 97.

Cumberland County has 85 new businesses.

Penobscot and Kennebec counties each report 63 new cases.

As of Saturday, the CDC in Maine reports that 74,805 people have received a coronavirus vaccine.

63,268 received the first dose, while 11,537 people received the second dose.
