Madeleine McCann’s parents hopeful looking for daughter

The parents of Madeleine McCann, who has been missing for more than 13 years, say they are still hopeful of finding her – although the search was recently hampered by the coronavirus pandemic.

Gerry and Kate McCann write a New Year’s message on their official website Find Madeleine Campaign and say that their thoughts and prayers are with everyone who suffered in 2020, according to the newspaper The Sun.

“It is understandable that the investigation to find Madeleine was forced to be delayed due to the pandemic,” they wrote. “However, it did not stop and the hope, energy and determination to find her and discover the truth remained steadfast.”

The British toddler disappeared from her parents’ holiday apartment in a resort in the south of Portugal in May 2007. She was then 3 years old.

Christian Brueckner, a German convicted rapist, is the main suspect in the case, although prosecutors said they did not have enough evidence to keep him in the McCann case.
