Madden NFL 21 Unveils New SpongeBob “Reef-Top” Crossover Content

Electronic Arts unveils brand new SpongeBob SquarePants content Madden NFL 21. In The Yard, players can view the new SpongeBob Reef-Top location, featuring an abundance of character footage as well as Nickelodeon brands. Players can see the Krusty Krab nearby, while a SpongeBob glider and the Nickelodeon balloon can be found in the air. By completing on-site challenges, players can unlock exclusive equipment based on the range as well as new game modes. The timing of the event looks set to coincide with this weekend’s NFL Wild Card game, which will air simultaneously on CBS and Nickelodeon.

A preview of the content can be found in the Tweet below.

The SpongeBob content contains a total of three new modes: The Flying Dutchman’s Ghostly Grab, Sandy’s Rocket Arm Rally and The Goo Lagoon Bowl. In The Flying Dutchman’s Ghostly Grab, players can jump higher and make impressive catches. Long touch also results in bonus points. In Sandy’s Rocket Arm Rally, players can throw passes of 80 meters and longer. Last but not least, the Goo Lagoon Bowl has players moving in slow motion.

While the partnership between SpongeBob and Madden certainly seems unusual, the crossover content also looks pretty interesting! All the photos in the trailer really appear off the screen, with colors that are quite brighter than Madden fans are used to seeing. It’s impossible to say what kind of crossover the fans of the character and Madden might be, but for those who love both, this content should definitely be a little fun! Madden NFL 21 fans who are not interested in this content can always check out the latest title update that appeared in the game earlier today.

Madden NFL 21 is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Google Stadiums and PC. You can see all our previous coverage of the game here.
