Brennan noted that Russia largely ignored sanctions imposed by other countries and NATO, while Macron himself criticized NATO as ‘brain dead’.
“I think what happened a few years ago when Ukraine invaded, it’s not a failure of diplomacy, it’s a failure of our common credibility with Russia,” Macron said. “And I think if we put red lines, we should respect that by our people and the others.
