Therefore, they are expanding the list of people who can get the vaccines in Macomb County. From Saturday, anyone with disabilities aged 16 or over can call and set up and make an appointment.

“What we did was basically that these people with disabilities and other family or caregivers and even their guardians sometimes have the opportunity to continue to sign up for the vaccine,” Hackel said. “16 or older. We work with our school districts to identify people who may be in those categories. ”

Hackel said it’s a great achievement, but they’re still targeting senior citizens.

“Our biggest concern has been making sure we take care of our seniors first, and I tell you, we are more than 100,000 seniors here in Macomb County,” Hackel said.

But how do you determine who is telling the truth about their circumstances and who is not?

“A lot of it is based on the honor system,” Hackel said. “I do not know too many people who are going to use this.”

Of course, Hackel expects more people to call. There will be more calls and more appointments.

“We are prepared and I think again that we will be able to open earlier for all people – for everyone who wants the vaccine – sooner than probably the deadline on April 5,” Hackel said.
