Mack Wilson fixes fences with Patrick Mahomes’ mother

When Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggled to stand up during the AFC playoffs, some of his teammates were unhappy with Cleveland Browns linebacker Mack Wilson after his tackle left the QB shaky and disoriented.

After the game, the former Alabama standout came to his defense and told reporters that Wilson was not a dirty player. Wilson took to social media to defend himself and wish Mahomes strength, to which the quarterback replied, “All right, brother!”

Some Chiefs fans have also directed their anger at Wilson, including Mahomes’ mother, who wants Wilson disqualified from the game.

Wilson responded with an explanation that seemed to soothe Randi Mahomes.

Although Patrick Mahomes left Sunday’s game halfway through the third quarter, the Chiefs still defeated the Browns 22-17 to end Wilson’s second NFL season.

Wilson started delayed in 2020.

When Wilson practiced on August 18 with a “significantly extended left knee,” the Browns feared he would miss the 2020 season. The injury eventually cost Wilson the first two games of the regular season, and he played only six snaps in the third game.

After that, Wilson started playing in eight of Cleveland’s 15 games with eight. Eventually, he plays 35 percent of the Brown’s defensive snaps. He had 39 tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass breakups in 2020

While Wilson played a smaller role for the Brown in his second season than might have been expected before his injury, the former Carver-Montgomery star played a larger role than expected in his rookie season.

A draft pick in the fifth round put Wilson in the starting lineup when Christian Kirksey was injured in the second game of 2019. Wilson finished second season at the Browns with 944 defenses and 82 tackles last season, when he also celebrated last season dives had loss, one bag, two quarterback hits, seven pass breakups and one forced trick.

The Chiefs advanced to the AFC Championship Game as they embarked on their second consecutive trip to the Super Bowl. Kansas City will play the Buffalo Bills at 5:40 p.m. Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. CBS will broadcast the match on television.

Andy Reid, head coach, told reporters on Monday that Mahomes was in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

“We’ll just follow it and see how he goes here in the next few days,” Reid said. ‘… I just leave it to (athletics coach) Rick (Burkholder) and the doctors. Because of the protocol, it is not important for the coaching panel. You do not have to think about it. I can not tell you from a medical point of view where he is. I do not know. ”
