Lyft said on Thursday that last week was the best, in terms of rider volume, since the exclusion began in March 2020. The company also achieved a positive growth in the daily ride growth in a year on Wednesday for the first time in a year. March 17.

The company’s share rose more than 1% the morning after the announcement.

Ride-hailing companies are starting up because of their low pandemic lows as Covid vaccines roll out and government restrictions are lifted, moving people to feel more comfortable going back to work or travel. With the close on Wednesday, Lyft and Uber’s shares rose year-on-year by 250% and 198% respectively.

Lyft now expects to achieve positive growth on a year-on-year basis and every subsequent week until the end of the year (except that the coronavirus conditions worsen significantly).

Starting next week, the company said it expects its year-on-year drive to grow more than 100% year-on-year, as it started a year ago to get the significant impact of Covid-19 on our business.

The Lyft update comes about two weeks after it was reported in an SEC filing that improving trends would enable it to reduce losses in the current quarter by more than expected. The company said it would manage its adjusted EBITDA loss in the first quarter to $ 135 million, from the $ 145 million to $ 150 million it had previously forecast.
