Luke Evans will play ANOTHER Disney villain while playing a role in the live-action Pinocchio … after playing Gaston in Beauty and the Beast

He is known for his devilishly attractive appearance, as well as a disgraceful role from a successful live action show featuring a Disney movie.

And now Luke Evans will return to form, having landed the role of the evil Coachman in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Pinocchio.

The Hobbit actor (41) will join the Disney + movie that Tom Hanks has already attached as Geppetto, Deadline reports.

The cast comes after Evans played the selfish, navel-gazing Gaston in 2017’s Beauty and the Beast remake of Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.

The film broke the billion-dollar box office worldwide, ushering in a new era for the Mouse House to reload the vault of animated classics.

The Lion King and Aladdin were both also featured in live action, and they also each broke the $ 1 billion mark.

The new Pinocchio, directed by Forrest Gump helmet Robert Zemeckis, will go directly to the Disney + streaming platform, unlike the above-mentioned predecessors who enjoyed big theater bows.

Like the 1940s animated classic, Pinocchio will explore the story of an enchanted puppet who wants to become a real boy.

Evans’ coachman will be one of several antagonists who seek to harm and exploit Pinocchio for their own gain.

Disney’s live action on the story is just one of several Pinocchio projects, currently in production or recently released.

One is the long-awaited darker version of the story, co-directed with visionary filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro, and starring Cate Blanchett, Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton.

That film has been completed and is expected to be released sometime this year.

Oscar winner Roberto Benigni, who was originally an Italian fairy tale, also recently released a live-action version of the story, which was his second time.

In his most recent Pinocchio film released this past Christmas, Benigni played Geppetto, while in the version he produced in 2002, he played Pinocchio himself.

In addition to Disney’s new Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid is currently filming a live remake, starring Melissa McCarthy, Daveed Diggs, Javier Bardem and Awkwafina.
