LSik freshman Arik Gilbert, ESPN’s No. 6 recruiter in the 2020 class, says he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Gilbert announced his plans on Twitter.
“After careful consideration and cooperation with my family, I decided to enter the transportation portal,” Gilbert tweeted. “I want to thank God for giving me His blessings.”
The 6-foot 5, 249-pound Gilbert finished third on the team with 35 receptions and received 368 yards and two touchdowns in eight games for LSU.
On December 9, he chose the rest of LSU’s season. Coach Ed Orgeron said he hopes Gilbert will return to the Tigers in 2021.
Gilbert, ESPN’s best tight end prop and leading Georgia prospect in the 2020 class, chose LSU over Georgia and Alabama. His name has not yet appeared in the transfer portal.
