Louisiana coronavirus: 1,143 more confirmed cases, 19 deaths reported; see latest data | Coronavirus

The Louisiana Department of Health reported more confirmed coronavirus cases and another 19 confirmed deaths in the afternoon of 1143.

“On 2/8/21, LDH reports the total of two days for cases and tests,” the Louisiana Department of Health wrote on its dashboard. “The server issue previously reported has been fixed.”

The number of hospitalizations decreased by 22 and the number of patients requiring ventilators increased by six.

There are also 54,994 total “probable” cases of coronavirus in Louisiana, according to the agency’s dashboard.

Here are some more important statistics across the country starting Monday:

  • Total confirmed cases: 357,995
  • Total “probable” cases: 54,994
  • Total confirmed deaths: 8,542
  • Currently in hospital: 1,144
  • Currently on fans: 149
  • Vaccination series begins: 404 007 (updated twice a week)
  • Vaccination series completed: 130,978
  • Presumably recycled: 363 457 from 1 February (updated weekly)

Note: The staff of the Advocate and The Times-Picayune calculate the daily number of cases and the confirmed deaths increase based on the difference between the total number of today and yesterday’s confirmed cases of coronavirus and deaths. The Louisiana Department of Health is launching a daily number of cases on its dashboard that include possible cases, as indicated by a positive antigen test. The number of cases may differ from the one listed here.

  • Jefferson: 105
  • Orleans: 82
  • Gift: 78
  • East Baton Rouge: 76
  • Bossier: 59
  • Lafayette: 57

Louisiana will begin reopening Phase 1 on May 15-16 and then move to Phase 2 on June 5. Louis Bel Edwards, Louis Bel Edwards, expanded Louisiana’s Phase 2 restrictions twice in August before hitting the state at 11 p.m. September moved to phase 3. the state returns to an adjusted phase 2 by the end of November.
