If you can carry your heart on your sleeve, why not the city of Paris?
Puffer jackets with detailed 3D city fragrances appeared on Thursday at a vibrant Paris fashion show featuring designer Louis Vuitton’s fallwear winter collection 2021. The jackets are partly fashionable, partly architecture and partly very uncomfortable to wear on busy metros.
Virgil Abloh, artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection, designed two of these ‘portable miniature city spirits’.
One, the ‘Paris Skyline Puffer’, dresses the wearer in French landmarks, including the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower (which provides a rather long shoulder pad). The “New York City Skyline Puffer” contains skyscrapers from New York and other cities, including the John Hancock Center in Abloh’s hometown of Chicago.

“With its new Louis Vuitton collection, Virgil uses Abloh fashion as a tool to change predetermined perceptions of clothing,” says the fashion house.
The extensive choreographed and staged multidisciplinary performance mixes fashion, poetry, movement and music. It took place at the Tennis Club de Paris against a modernist set inspired by the Barcelona Pavilion, which served as the German Pavilion for the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona.
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, live spectators could not attend. However, you can watch a movie of the program, titled Peculiar Contrast, Perfect Light, and dream of a day when you can go next to your living room to stylish clothes. Here it is:
