Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr. allegedly left a hospital in Georgia on Tuesday ‘out of fear’ despite being so ill with COVID-19 that he ‘could not even stand’.

Hospital staff ‘begged’ the 84-year-old actor to stay there, but he was ‘shocked by the wave of deaths’ in his ward after a few days, according to TMZ.

‘Please wear masks, social distance, isolate, pray and listen inside. We can not survive without each other, ‘said Louis.

Gossett Jr. now recovering at home with his son, but family and friends are appealing to fans to send ‘personal messages of healing and love’ via the hashtag #LoveLettertToLou.

The Brooklyn-born star has two sons – Satie (46); and Sharron (43) – of his marriages with ex-wife # 2 Christina Mangosing and ex-wife # 3 Cyndi James Gossett.

Louis successfully struggled with prostate cancer in 2010 because he was in the early stages.

The coronavirus pandemic is rising nationwide, with a report of 633,000 confirmed cases in Georgia (19.9 million in the U.S.) that led to 10,503 deaths as of Thursday.

Gossett Jr. won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Sergeant Emil Foley in an officer and a gentleman opposite Richard Gere in 1982.

The Broadway thespian is also known for his Emmy-winning performance as Fiddler in the 1977 ABC television miniseries Roots.

Louis also won a Golden Globe Supporting Actor role for Officer Sidney Williams in the 1991 HBO movie The Josephine Baker Story.

Gossett Jr. received another Emmy nod this year for his role as Will Reeves / Hooded Justice in HBO’s limited series Watchmen opposite Regina King in nine episodes.
