“Lou Dobbs Tonight” canceled after a decade

Fox Business Network’s “Lou Dobbs Tonight”, whose host trumpets unfounded allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 election, has been canceled. Fox News said in a statement on Friday that the move was part of the routine changes in the programming it predicted in an announcement last year.

Fox News “regularly reviews the programming changes and plans to launch new formats after the election, including on Fox Business – this is part of the planned changes,” the company said.

The question of whether the cancellation will end Dobbs’ career at Fox News has not been discussed, and the company has not commented further. The former CNN host began his show in Fox in March 2011.

The statement apparently distanced the end of the program from a multibillion-dollar defamation suit filed by Fox and three of his hosts, including Dobbs, by election technology company Smartmatic. In a previous statement, Fox News said it would “vigorously defend itself against this lawsuit in court.”

The replacement of ‘Lou Dobbs Tonight’ will be announced soon, Fox News said. The program was last broadcast Friday with a host for Dobbs, who had no immediate explanation.

An interim show, “Fox Business Tonight”, will be presented from 5pm Eastern Monday with rotating hosts Jackie DeAngelis and David Asman and repeats at 7pm ET.
