Los Angeles opens COVID-19 vaccine appointments for residents 16 years and older

LOS ANGELES (KABC) – Los Angeles has opened COVID-19 vaccine appointments to all residents aged 16 and over.

The city’s vaccine registration website COVID-19 on Saturday showed an option for people aged 16 and older to make an appointment. Vaccinations for this group at vaccination sites run by the city begin on Tuesday.

In a statement, Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office said all three vaccines would be available to people 18 years and older, with the Pfizer vaccine being granted for ages 16 and 17.

“We are still receiving a limited amount of vaccines, and when we get more stock in the coming weeks, the City will be ready to administer more vaccinations quickly and safely,” the statement said.

The change to the city’s website comes days before California will officially expand the age-group vaccination grant.

People 50 years and older may currently be eligible for a vaccination. California residents 16 years and older will be officially eligible on April 15, but other local municipalities have chosen to open it earlier, including Long Beach.
