Los Angeles County will issue its own rules on Thursday for the opening of movie theaters, restaurants and outdoor concert venues

Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said the province plans to introduce its own operating guidelines for restaurants, movie theaters, gyms, outdoor events and the reopening of the theme park, as the province expects to restrictive ‘red’ level to enter the reopening of California. blueprint.

Governor Gavin Newsom announced earlier Wednesday the weakening of state restrictions. But local health officials have the power to be more restrictive than the state. LA health officials have used the option in the past. At restaurants, for example, LA officials banned TV screens outdoors, even though state guidelines allow it. Ferrer says there is still no definitive answer as to whether indoor dining will be allowed, although it is a permitted activity in the ‘red’ level of the State’s Blueprint for a safer economy.

More of the deadline

‘We’re watching what’s happening across the state. “We will have a definite answer about that tomorrow,” she said.

Either way, Ferrer said, ‘I’m going to ask everyone to watch [at the new rules] tomorrow and be compliant. ”

“The state does have a move back to press strategy,” she recalled. “The only exception is schools.”

Newsom said earlier that the state will reach its threshold on Friday to administer 2 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine in low-income low-income communities. This will lead to a change in the state plan for a safer economy that promotes the provinces of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino in the “red” level of the matrix. That red level offers more opportunities for re-businesses. LA has been in the most restrictive level of the governor’s blueprint since August.

Ferrer said Wednesday she believes the province believes 48 hours after the state announced that the vaccination threshold has been reached to officially move to the red level. If the goal is reached by Friday, as Newsom announced, the country will progress by Sunday.

On Tuesday, however, two members of the LA County Board of Supervisors said they fully adhere to the state guidelines ASAP.

Government officials recently announced that theme parks may reopen on April 1 at 15% of capacity, with only visitors in the state. The timeline is now being moved up by about two weeks. Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced on Tuesday that Disneyland will reopen in “late April”.

According to state guidelines, movie theaters can reopen with 25% or 100 people, whichever is the least.

Outside live events such as sports and concerts are allowed to reopen with 20% capacity. This includes suites with 25% occupancy per suite and a maximum of three households gathered in each suite.

It remains to be seen how strict local health guidelines meet these criteria.

Newsom sounded confident during a Wednesday visit to a mobile vaccination clinic in South Gate.
“Southern California, you will be a beneficiary of this,” he said.
