Hardware mud on YouTube is expected to cool the world’s first water PS5.
A 13-minute video from the Vietnamese channel Modding Cafe gives a full outline of the complete construction process involved in building a complete water cooling system for Sony’s latest console, including a step-by-step walkthrough of next-generation hardware development.
It is of course worth keeping in mind that if you try to do this, you will definitely invalidate the warranty of your PS5.
At the end of the video (about 12 minutes) the presenters put their innovative system to the test, with surprisingly effective results. The water cooler is able to successfully stabilize the heat of the PS5 and limit the hot air around the back plate of the console.
The channel also suggests constructing a variant of the cooling system for the mass market. The description of the video reads: “We continue to prepare for a commercial version [of the system] and also ready to integrate the water-cooled PS5 into one of our next computer accessories. ”
Judging by the way it looks – like a weapon given to mr. Freeze belongs – we will bet that many people will take action to cool their PS5 through Modding Cafe’s quirky water-based system.
Custom work
It goes without saying that this is not the first PS5 console to receive a makeover.
Although Sony’s flagship hardware is currently only available in a basic white color variant, you can still purchase custom faceplates which builds the aesthetics of your next generation system. A company called dbrand offers PS5 ‘darkplates’, which are available for $ 49.99 (about £ 40 / $ AU60).
Since we have seen how easy it is to analyze a PS5 system, there is a Sony’s official breakdown video, if you do not rely on Internet mudguards, adjusting the color of your console is not a daunting task.
Of course, if you’d rather skip DIY, you can always just choose a 24K gold PS5. It costs a cool $ 10,000 (about £ 7,700 / AU $ 14,000), but who doesn’t have that kind of cash around?
